News: PSN Back to the Future Ep 2 “soon”

Episode 3 on PC and Mac now.

Episode two of the Back to the Future series is due out on the European PlayStation Network "soon", Telltale has said.

Kid Tannen is also due out on iPad. It launches on the US PlayStation Network today.

The third episode, Citizen Brown, is out now for PC and Mac. It introduces Jennifer Parker, voiced by Claudia Wells, who played Marty's girlfriend in the first film.

Kratos vs. Kratos or Kratos and Kratos?

A new job advertisement posted by Sony Santa Monica suggests a multiplayer future for the God of War series.

Sony's PlayStation 3 exclusive gore-em-up has always been single-player only.

According to the ad, posted on Gamasutra, Sony's after a senior online programmer to handle "designing and implementing systems and tools to support networking needs (such as in-game communication, client-server, match-making, leaderboards)".

Disputes Sony America's right to try him.

The lawyers representing infamous PS3 hacker George Hotz are fighting back, fiercely disputing Sony America's right to try Hotz in California - or, indeed, at all.

Sony America traced the IP of PSN account "blickmaniac" near to Hotz's house. If that PSN account belongs to Hotz then he will have broken Sony America's terms of service - a crime SCEA can latch onto.

But in new papers (digested by Groklaw), Hotz's lawyers claim the serial number linked to the "blickmaniac" account does not match the serial number of a new PS3 Slim bought by Hotz.

The NPD's decision to even further clamp down on how its data is shared with the media is a disappointing one. Once upon a time, the monthly NPD releases were something to look forward to -- they gave us a good look at what was going on in the industry that we didn't otherwise get. Even if it did offer as much information as it once did, it would not be nearly as all-encompassing; digital has become such a major aspect of the business that only releasing numbers which account for physical sales at retail would be misleading. And that appears to be one of the exact reasons NPD has pulled back on the data it shares.

Choplifter Being Revived This Fall

The classic Broderbund series Choplifter will be getting its first new game in more than 15 years with the release of Choplifter HD this fall.

InXile Entertainment announced today that it would be bringing the new title to PlayStation Network and PC. "First playing and loving the original Choplifter on my Apple II, then watching the franchise expand into arcades and the early console systems helped seed my passion for building lasting, quality gameplay experiences," said the company's president, Brian Fargo. "The feedback on creating a fresh take on Choplifter has been incredibly positive. We all have so many fond memories of playing the first game and the fun of rescuing people in hostile situations is timeless."

There wasn't much in the way of details in the announcement. Players will assume the role of a member of C.H.O.P.R (which stands for Coordinated Helicopter Operations, Preservation and Rescue, as you were no doubt wondering) who take control of helicopters to save survivors. There will be more than 20 missions, ranging from saving a military prisoner to someone needing to be saved from a viral outbreak.

PlayStation Rewards Program Launch Postponed

After being planned for launch in April, the PlayStation Rewards program has been delayed indefinitely.

The ongoing beta, which kicked off on October 28, will come to a close on March 31. An email sent to beta testers read, "We wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for your participation in the PlayStation Rewards Beta, which is ending on March 31st. Your feedback helped us understand the kinds of things that make you feel appreciated and valued.

"Based on what we learned, we have decided the program is not ready to roll out to the public in April as originally planned. But rest assured, we will continue to thank loyal and devoted customers like you with innovative offerings."
